Exciting News from the FPAL Matt Garcia Youth Center!

Passion and hard work have been paying off this year for FPAL Coaches and Members.

Coach Anthony  was proud to award 3 new belts in Martial Arts this month. Anthony was awarded a purple belt and Orange belts were awarded to both Emilio and Scott.

Coach Pete led three FPAL Boxers to the semifinal and championship matches. Underdog Mario Cardenas fought bravely against a two-time national champ with over 100 fights to his credit, and although he lost, his technique charmed the judges. They decided to put him into a different weight class, enabling him to compete for the championship belt. Devin Portillo secured a fight after two previous unsuccessful attempts. He won his match easily  and continued on to the semifinals. Fifteen year-old Hack Culling participated in the first match of his amateur career and also was successful, advancing him to the semifinals.

Parents and Volunteers alike are tremendously proud of how much the members of the FPAL - Matt Garcia Youth Center have accomplished, and are all excited to see what other successes they will attain in the future!
