The Biggest Loser 

Based on the popular TV show, the PAL version will challenge students’ knowledge of health and nutrition.  Contestants will meet each Thursday at 6pm and attend workshops and participate in challenges designed to improve their nutrition knowledge and help them find fun and healthy ways to get exercise.  Weight loss will not be a factor in the final decision.  A $500 grand prize will be awarded!  This program is sponsored by Kaiser.

Math Masters Monday Night Football / Fantasy Sports

Starting on Monday, September 13, the PAL center will host Monday Night Football viewing parties followed by a fantasy sports league.  Using the fun of creating a fantasy sports team, students will make trades, draft any players they wish, and decide on their starting lineups each week. Fantasy Sports are based on real-world data, and students can follow their players on television, in newspapers, or online. This allows them to make connections between math at school and math in the real world.  Fantasy sports can facilitate the transition into the abstract world of algebra.   Thanks to the Matt Garcia Foundation snacks will be served each Monday night and there will be prizes awarded!  Starting times will coincide with each scheduled game’s kick-off.

“WHIP It UP” Cooking Show

Calling all aspiring chefs!  Join Ms. Fatima at the PAL Center each Monday and Wednesday at 6:30pm and learn how to prepare a new meal or snack sensation…then work together to produce a cooking segment for the PAL TV Show!

Freestyle Friday Night Open Mic (the last Friday night of each month)

Hosted by the PAL studio show your lyrical skills.

I LOVE HOMEWORK

PAL’s latest spin-off!  This time contestants will compete each week in challenges designed to test their study skills and homework habits for a $500 prize!  Snacks will be served and all contestants will receive a t-shirt.  Wednesdays at 6pm.  Tutors will be available to assist contestants Monday-Thursday from 3pm-7pm.  Sponsored by the Matt Garcia Foundation.

Best in da West 8^th grade Basketball Challenge

PAL is calling all 8^th grade boys.  Join us in September for challenges deigned to help us crown the best 8^th grade boys basketball player.  Trophies, prizes and ultimate bragging rights awarded!

Pizza and Poetry

Join us every Friday night at 6:30pm for pizza and spoken word.  Hear local poets and learn to write your own.

Boxing

Join us every day after school and train with the best.  Train to compete inside the ring or just come down to try the latest workout trend!  New boxers train at 4pm and advanced at 5pm.  No special equipment is necessary.

McDonald’s Graffiti Wall and Global Graffiti Wall

We’re writing on the walls at PAL.  Join us every day at 4pm for a quick on the wall challenge, game, puzzle, activity or project.  A McDonald’s value meal is awarded each day. 

Peace Jam

Looking to transform your world?  Join the PAL Peace Jam Club and meet others interested in improving Fairfield.  Meets every Friday at 3:45pm.

Tuesday High School Only Days

Join the Fairfield Police Officers Association on Tuesdays when the entire center is set aside just for our high school members.  Hot In & Out Burger is served!

Drive In Movie Nights

Open Air Cinemas is coming to PAL.  Our new, theatre quality system with a

16ft x 9ft screen for movie-viewing and video game-playing.

G’s to Gents

Coming in October, PAL members will learn what it means to be gentlemen…and how to stay free of drugs, alcohol and violence.  Sponsored by the Reducing Rates Coalition, this 10-week challenge will feature workshops, contests, fieldtrips and much more!  A cash prize will be awarded!

The Matt Garcia Youth Center is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3pm-9pm, Tuesdays from 4pm-9pm, and Fridays from 3pm-10:30pm.  The center offers a full gym, computers, afterschool tutoring program, video games, and more.  Membership to the Fairfield PAL program at the Matt Garcia Youth Center is open to Fairfield, Suisun and Travis residents in grades 7^th - 12^th who are enrolled in school.  Membership is only $10 a year and can be completed at City Hall at the Mall.  A current student ID is required to register. Scholarships are available through the Fairfield Police Officers Association.
